Kitchen Remodeling Tips

Kitchen Traffic is Number One!

No other room in the home gets more use than the kitchen and no other room can increase the value of the home like a remodeled kitchen can. Today people are opting for the more open kitchen that is open to the dining area as well.

If you like to entertain, you will be better served with a big kitchen that is open and allows room for other people to mingle and enjoy themselves. If the area opens up to the dining room then everyone can stand around and talk without being cramped

It is said that the kitchen is heart of the home. It is the one room that everyone enjoys because practically everybody likes to eat. A great kitchen will be user friendly with lots of counter space and lots of cabinets. Adding an island is also a popular kitchen remodel idea because it adds easy and quick access to additional counter space.

Remodeling your kitchen will give you a good return on your investment if done appropriately. Kitchen design and functionality is a very important factor when you are considering a kitchen remodel. You want to think about the ways you can make your time in the kitchen enjoyable and less stressful. A good layout will allow you to entertain and prepare meals with as few steps as possible.

Create a triangle in your kitchen space. This concept has been used for years to create a user friendly work area. The idea is to have the refrigerator, skin, and stove in the triangle area so that each is easy to reach. If these items are too far apart they will create too many extra steps when trying to prepare a meal. Arranging these items in a fairly close triangle will cut down on your steps and will make your job a lot easier.

If possible, add a pantry. This will allow you to store all of you kitchen gadgets in one area. A pantry can allow you to have more free space for counter tops so that your kitchen does not look cluttered. A pantry also helps keep the kitchen traffic confined to one area and allows you to cook without being interrupted.

The kitchen is not a place to waste space. When you install kitchen cabinets, make sure they go all the way to the ceiling. There is no other use for the space above the cabinets unless you have an expensive collection that you would like to display. Many people cannot react to the top of the cabinets but keeping a handy step stool close by will eliminate that problem.

When purchasing appliances, keep in mind that you can buy appliances that will do a lot of the work for you. Get a dishwasher with an extra rack so that you don’t have to do as many loads. Buy an oven that is self cleaning so that you won’t have to scrub. You can also purchase appliances that conserve energy. With the high cost of energy, this is a feature that is highly desirable.
